IN THE HEART OF HISTORICAL ROME ...
Hotel Dorica is located in Piazza del Viminale, opposite the Ministry of the Interior, in the center of historical and political Rome.
Piazza del Viminale is the perfect starting point for taking the classical tourist tours and for reaching the numerous offices of the area starting from the Ministry which is located in the splendid Palazzo del Viminale, built at the beginning of the 1900's to house the Ministry. Modelled after the noble dimensions of buildings from the second half of the 1500's, it is a successful example of neo-Renaissance architecture.
No matter what the reason for your stay in Rome, be sure not to miss the authentic masterpieces in the vicinity of the Hotel, including the Church of San Carlo alle Quattro Fontane, a Baroque jewel by Borromini, 350 meters from the Dorica, and 200 meters further on, in via del Quirinale, the Church of Sant’Andrea, a masterpiece by Bernini, the most famous Baroque artist.
Opposite lies the Palazzo del Quirinale, the historical government building which is the residence of Italy's President. Its main facade is on Piazza del Quirinale, one of the prettiest in Rome, whish has a wonderful view. Originally the summer residence of the Popes, in 1870 it became the home of the monarchy, and in 1947 of the President. The initial nucleus and the facade of the building are from the late 16th century, which are then layered with expansions and renovations from up to the first half of the 1700's. The interiors are beautiful and can be visited every morning except during summer.
From here it is worth continuing on Via dell’Umiltà and turning right on the short Via San Vincenzo, which leads to the marvelous sight of the 18th century Fontana di Trevi, the most massive fountain of Rome (the facade is 20 meters wide and 26 high!). From Via delle Muratte head to Via del Corso, the famous shopping street, after strolling past the stores and boutiques, we suggest you take Via Pietra to get to Piazza Rotonda home of the Pantheon. The harmonious proportions of the grandiose temple are still astounding today as is the Roman architectural genius who knew how to build the dome in a single span more than 2000 years ago in 27 B.C.
A short walk will take you to Piazza Navona, where you can enjoy the show: you are in one of the most beautiful squares in the world!
